As you may know one of the common sources of Resveratrol is red wine or rather the grapes from which red wine is made.

I highlighted the fact that I was dubious about Resveratrol benefits because so much of the testing seemed to have been carried out on animals and that there was so little hard evidence of anti-aging or longevity benefits for humans.

During my research I came across a news story on CBS citing some new research carried out in the University of London that seems to question the benefits of Resveratrol.

Apparently the research looked into the claim that Resveratrol was effective in extending lifespan because it activated some proteins in the body called sirtuins.

Now I’m no scientist and I don’t pretend to have any idea what these proteins really are but it matters not, what does matter is that all the claims about Resveratrol are based on the assumption that these sirtuins get activated and that they in turn slow doen the aging process.

It seems that the London based research, whilst acknowledging that Resveratrol does may activate these sirtuins (and that couldn’t be established beyond doubt) any activation that did occur would be at such low levels as to make any benefit undetectable.

One of the professors involved in the research went as far as to say that people who’ve believed the story that Resveratrol activates Sirtuins and that these surtuins help you live longer have been fooled.

As with so many of these issues there are scientists on both sides of the fenc but personally I have serious doubts about the existence of Resveratrol benefits.

The marketing campaign is heavily biased towards the fact that Dr Fiorillo was once a Hollywood plastic surgeon to the stars, and that Hydroxatone is a ‘magic’ formula once only available to a few. A whole lot of hype and TV show appearances have added to the furore.

The internet is awash with stories of Hydroxatone scams centred around the fact that many websites offer ‘free trials’ which, it is alleged, take your credit card details and take payments that are hard to stop. I don’t know if this is true but if you’re intending to buy hydroxatone I’d advise some caution.

So what is this magic product anyway?

Well it claims to be made up of a special blend of nutrients and extracts including Matrixyl 3000, Argirilene, Hyaluronic acid, and sun protection. Matrixyl 3000, Argirilene, Hyaluronic acid are anti-aging products in their own right and I’ll be talking far more about them in later posts but for know I guess it’s not hard to see that combining these individually powerful ingredients into one product does sound attractive.

The main Hydroxatone product is an anti wrinkle face cream called Hydroxatone AM/PM Anti Wrinkle Complex aimed at reducing the number of fine lines and creases in the face. They make big claims that 90% of women notice a reduction in wrinkles in a short space of time, too good to be true? I supect so.

They also manufacture something called Hydrolyze Advanced Under Eye Formula which tackles dark circles and bags, reduces ‘crows feet’ and helps smooth the skin around the eyes.

There’s no doubt that an effective anti wrinkle cream and a dedicated eye cream are essential. I use only Xtend Life Restorative Night Cream and Xtend Life Eye Contour Serum

Resveratrol is a natural plant compound substance found in found in the skins of various fruits, in particular grapes. Resveratrol is a powerful antioxident and it’s well known that antoxidents can help purge the body of many ot the nasties that cause cell decay and aging. The first clues that Resveratrol can help slow the anti-aging process come from the fact that one of the most common sources of Resveratrol are grapes, in particular red grapes and therefore Reservatrol is present in red wine, It’s well known that the French consume more red wine than any other nation so the fact that the French population is as a whole healthier, less obese and longer living than other nationalities, despite also eating lots of red meat is cited as evidence of the anti aging benefits of Resveratrol.

There’s no real scientific proof to back this up and most of the scientific research that has been carried out into Resveratrol have been carried out on animals, that worries me.

In 2006, a team at Harvard University proved that mice who were given a high-fat, high-calorie diet and Resveratrol lived around 30 percent longer than the control group who weren’t given Resveratrol. Apparently they also had significantly fewer age-associated health problems.

They concluded that Resveratrol had in effect negated the damaging effects of a poor diet, obesity, and aging.

Now all of this is all well and good but the amount of resveratrol in red wine is very small so you would need to drink a lot of wine to increase your intake of resveratrol and because drinking 100 glasses of wine per day is obviously not recommended, many people turn to resveratrol supplements to increase their intake of resveratrol.

When it comes to Resveratrol benefits taking man made versions of a naturally occurring substances is not without risk.

Be aware that fake and low quality resveratrol supplements are being sold online including some synthetically prepared from the Japanese knotwood plant or fleeceflower. Such products are not only ineffective, but can also lead to certain health hazards like stomach cramps etc. So, make sure that when you go to buy Resveratol products you read your own Resveratrol reviews, buy only the best resveratrol and only from trusted sources.

I’m reserving my judgement for now until I’ve done some more research and in any case I’m very happy with the antioxident intake I have.

Try going to Google and typing in something like ‘Anti Aging Reviews’ or ‘Best Anti Aging Products’ (not now though I want you to stick with me for a bit)

You’ll see a whole bunch of sites some better than others but all aimed at one thing… selling you stuff!

I’m not convinced that any of them really have our interests at heart and I bet that like me you’ve spent a lot of time and probably money too only to end up feeling let down at best or downright ripped off at worst.

Well it’s my aim to do better than that, I’ll be pulling together loads of information, wading through all the c**p to find the good stuff and then passing on what I’ve found to you guys.
